Mobile devices have touched and changed almost every aspect of our lives: from how we gather, store and share information; to how we learn, create and express ourselves; to the jobs and career paths that exist; to the very communities and cultures we live in.
These devices are central to our students’ lives and their futures, yet few of them know how these ubiquitous computational and communication machines work, or understand how they can fully unlock their power. To address this key gap in K-12 education JASON Learning has developed the "ThinkDigital Mobile" curriculum, powered by Gadget Softwares app platform.
ThinkDigital Mobile introduces students to the technology, networks and services that make mobile devices so transformative, and it challenges them to apply their learning to an urgent, relevant real-world, collaborative challenge – the development and implementation of an emergency response app for their community. Through their project work, students also make deep connections with their communities, and build their own peer networks locally, regionally, and nationally.
This 4 – 6 week curriculum is designed as a foundational course for students in grades 6 – 10, and aligns with international (ISTE), national and regional computer science and technology standards, and can be implemented in traditional, blended, flipped, and after school learning environments.
